Uttarakhand – The Land of Gods, The Home of the Himalayas

Uttarakhand, lovingly known as Devbhoomi – the Land of Gods – is where divinity meets the raw, untamed beauty of the Himalayas. A paradise on earth, it calls out to adventurers and seekers alike with its crisp mountain air, roaring rivers, snow-capped peaks, and endless valleys wrapped in forests of pine and oak. Life here flows simply and purely, shaped by terraced fields, serene villages, and ancient traditions. For riders, it is nothing less than India’s hidden motorcycle paradise.

Nestled in the lap of the Greater Himalayas, Uttarakhand is richly blessed by nature. The state is home to glaciers that give birth to India’s two holiest rivers – the Ganga and the Yamuna – fed by countless lakes and streams. Every bend of the road carries a divine story, every mountain whispers ancient legends, and every riverbank glows with evening prayers. It is not just a destination; it is the soul of the Himalayas.

For those who love the thump of an engine echoing through mountain valleys, there is no better adventure than a Royal Enfield Motorcycle Tour to Uttarakhand. Riding across the Middle Himalayas on this legendary machine transforms the journey into something unforgettable – the curves sharper, the climbs steeper, the views grander, and the silence deeper. This Himalayan Motorcycle Tour is more than a ride; it’s an awakening.

The route is an explorer’s dream. Begin in Rishikesh, the Yoga Capital of the World, alive with ashrams, suspension bridges, and the magical Ganga Aarti. Ride through Chamba and gaze upon the mighty Tehri Dam, Asia’s tallest dam nestled among rolling Garhwal hills. Witness the sacred confluence at Devprayag, where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda unite to form the holy Ganga. Climb higher to Pauri, where sunsets turn Himalayan peaks into a canvas of crimson and gold.

The spiritual journey deepens in Dwarahat, a heritage town with 55 ancient Katyuri temples and the tranquil Yogoda Satsanga Ashram linked to Paramahansa Yogananda. Explore the cultural charm of Almora, the temple town of Bageshwar, and the breathtaking views from Kausani, often called the “Switzerland of India.” The adventure then takes you through Marchula and into the wilds of Corbett National Park, India’s first tiger reserve.

As the road winds on, the colonial echoes of Lansdowne greet you with stone-paved trails, churches, and a serene old-world charm. Finally, the journey concludes in Haridwar, one of India’s holiest cities, where the evening Ganga Aarti leaves you with a memory that will last a lifetime.

From roaring rivers to sacred confluences, from snow-capped ridges to jungle trails, this motorcycle expedition through the Middle Himalayas is a rare blend of thrill, culture, and spirituality. For every Royal Enfield lover who dreams of riding in the Himalayas, this tour is not just a trip – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime motorcycle adventure into India’s hidden Himalayan paradise.

These stone-carved marvels, built between the 11th and 13th centuries, reflect the classic Nagara style of temple architecture and stand as enduring reminders of the region’s spiritual and cultural legacy.
A short ride or hike from Dwarahat brings you to the revered Dunagiri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga. Perched atop a ridge with sweeping Himalayan views, this sacred site is believed to be where Hanuman dropped the piece of mountain carrying the Sanjeevani herb during the Ramayana era. The aura of devotion and the surrounding silence make it a place of great spiritual energy.
Dwarahat is also associated with modern spiritual heritage. The town is home to the Yogoda Satsanga Ashram, established by followers of Paramahansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi. The ashram’s serene environment, meditation gardens, and Himalayan backdrop make it a haven for seekers from across the world.
